New committee going strong

It’s been just over a month since our AGM and our new committee has already met twice!

We’re looking at some big updates over the next 12 months so watch this space.

The Federal Government has responded to the recent Privacy Act Review and it looks like small businesses, previously exempt, will now have to comply.

This could mean additional red tape and updates to processes and procedures, so we’ll keep an eye on that legislation which is expected next year.

In the meantime, it would be wise to review your data collection and privacy policies anyway to get a head start.

On a related note, there is a Cyber Security Worksop coming up on 2 November.

There have been small businesses locally that have been victims of cyber scamming, so please don’t think it won’t happen you!

This is potentially a critical issue that often flies under the radar.

Be prepared.

The Best in Business award nominations have closed, so good luck to all who took the time to submit an entry.

There’s a lot of value in just submitting your entries to business awards, even if you don’t make the

final shortlist, as it’s an opportunity to stop and think about your business – where you have been and where you’re going.

Something we all need to do at regular intervals, but often don’t.

Life can get in the way sometimes!

The People’s Choice voting is now open, so if you were nominated firstly congratulations, and secondly spread the word to all your customers and ask them for their support.

Voting is quick and easy.

Head to our website and the link is on the home page.

And of course, tickets to the gala event on 2 December are on sale from Capricorn Enterprise’s website.

These events have lots of fun and are a great way to celebrate all the effort you put into your business each year.

Don’t delay.

Thanks to IPA for our next coffee catch-up, which is at the Regent Hotel on Bolsover Street on 25

October.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
