multi-award-winning destination

Rockhampton has been riding a wave of success in recent months, and it’s not just due to its picturesque landscapes and charming heritage.

Our thriving regional gem has been recognised in a series of prestigious tourism awards, strengthening its reputation as a must-visit destination in Australia.

Tourism is not solely about scenic beauty or a selfie with a bull (statue or real).

It’s about the aroma of local cuisines wafting through the air, the vivacity of festivals, and the narratives of people who call the Rockhampton region home.

Rockhampton offers all this and so much more, which has cemented us as the visitation capital of Central Queensland, ranking the highest in Tourism Research Australia’s data survey.

To celebrate these successes, Advance Rockhampton proudly nominates our region in regular tourism awards, putting Rockhampton at the forefront of people’s minds when booking their next holiday destination.

One of our most noteworthy achievements is the Queensland Tourism Awards, which Rockhampton has nominations in this year for Rockynats Car Festival, Explore Rockhampton Marketing Campaigns and in addition to these, the Cassidy family have entered the multi award-winning Empire Apartment Hotel and Conference Centre.

After taking out several awards last year, we are waiting with bated breath for this year’s announcement in November.

In conjunction with the Queensland Tourism Awards, the RACQ People’s Choice Awards are held each year encouraging the public to vote for their favourite tourism experience.

These awards recognise exceptional tourism experiences, services and accommodation and all voters go in the draw to win a $1000 or $500 Woolworths WISH eGift card.

This year our region has two categories in the running; Rockynats and Empire Apartment Hotel, so get in quick and cast a vote to support our local experiences, voting closes Monday 2 October at 5pm at racq.com.au/peopleschoiceawards with nominations in for several other tourism award programs including the Grey Nomad Awards and Top Tourism Town Awards, Rockhampton has also had great success in the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards for 2023.

Many of our tourism experiences have taken out awards this year including Rockhampton Heritage Village, Rockhampton Botanic Gardens and Zoo, Nurim Circuit Elevated Boardwalk and a special shout out to Kortes Resort for the accommodation sector, taking out a ‘Best of the Best’ award for another year.

Rockhampton’s tourism award wins serve as an invitation for travellers near and far to come and experience the magic for themselves.

Whether you’re an adventure seeker, history enthusiast, or a lover of culture, Rockhampton has something special to offer.

So spread the word with friends and family to pack their bags, plan a trip, and come discover what makes Rockhampton a multi-award-winning destination at explorerockhampton.com.au.

If you’re a tourism business that has won an award let us know so we can share your success too!
