Almost a 6C minimum jump from Thursday to Friday.

Friday’s 18.2C minimum after the 31.5C maximum Thursday is a reminder that the cooler mornings are just about finished and summer is just around the corner.

We have averaged a minimum 15.2C this month (Bilo a cold 8.6C, Gladstone 16C and Yeppoon 16.9C).

Rainfall in Australia for September has been 70 per cent below average which could be the lowest rainfall on record.

Most of Capricornia except Gladstone has been 80 to 90 per cent down on the long term average.

After driving from Rocky to Mt. Morgan the countryside looks extremely dry.

The Dunn Brothers at Wowan said they were welding and a grass fire started.

They listened to the be fire smart, don’t let the fire start promotion.

And prepared with buckets of water, immediately put the fire out that could have burnt hundreds of acres.

WELL DONE!

Having worked in a number of places for the Bureau.

I have come across a number of Water Board people ringing up for how long before the next rainfall, after a long dry spell.

I asked why?

Apparently e-coli (fecal matter) count in stored water increases in extended dry situations.

In Australia a safe value is one to ten MPN/100 ml and 11-100 ml is medium risk.

Our current dry spell puts us in the upper chance of getting more e-coli in the water.

If we don’t take action now then diarrhea or even cryptosporidium can develop and cause people upwards of a month’s discomfort before medication kicks in.

We should take measures, properly boil water, filter drinking water, double test infant formula, washing fruits and vegetables, wash hands after toilet and before preparing cooking in non contaminated water.

In the AFL Grand Final a forecast of 29C Saturday afternoon with the final to start 2.30pm.

This is the third time in 30 years a temperature was this warm.

Melbournians have not experienced this since January this year.

This might suit the Lions bronlow a bit?

Pies DeGoey tackling may have more true grit?

In the NRL western Sydney looks like reaching 35C.

Luckily the game starts after 6.30pm.

Again this may suit the Broncos with Reece Lightning scoring out wide.

Or will the Cleary control stem the tide?

Storms from Gayndah to Brisbane late Thursday.

Greenbank 29mm and Beaudesert 24mm. Soi was -16 now -14. Still very low.
