The old Yeppoon Hospital started its life in Mt Chalmers.
When the mining industry collapsed in the early 1900s, the Mt Chalmers Hospital was rendered unnecessary.
Through the generosity of the Mt Chalmers community, the building was acquired by the Rockhampton Hospital Board and in 1917 was relocated to Anzac Parade on the Yeppoon foreshore.
It was to be used as a convalescent home. Through the efforts of a local committee, the building was proclaimed a Hospital in 1922.
Other buildings were added over the years. The hospital was demolished in the 1970s, and replaced by a more modern structure which itself was demolished in 2010.
