River Festival Excitement

Rockhampton is alive with events, and this month leads us in to one of our favourite cultural events, held on the Fitzroy River (Tunuba), the Rockhampton River Festival.

The River Festival is the quintessential winter festival on the Central Queensland calendar, showcasing a diverse line-up of nationally recognised artists and up-and-coming talent.

Held in the picturesque Rockhampton Riverside Precinct, the festival aims to create a vibrant celebration of music, art, food and culture that captivates audiences of all ages.

With its commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences, Rockhampton River Festival solidifies the region as the Events Capital of Central Queensland.

Hold on to your skates because this year’s line-up is going to be one of the best yet with a real-life ice skating rink taking prominent position on Rockhampton’s riverfront.

Whether it’s the younger generation or those seeking a bit of extra stability on the ice, everyone can glide effortlessly and confidently at Winter Wonderland with the help of the Ice Pal Penguins.

Bookings are essential, and attendees are encouraged to secure their tickets via the Rockhampton River Festival website before they sell out.

The art and culture program is jam-packed for all ages this year including art workshops, song writing workshops, Waka Gulbugarngu Tunuba, a meeting space nurtured by Darumbal Enterprise, and amazing art installations throughout the event precinct.

The River Kids Precinct line-up of FREE stage shows, play spaces and workshops guarantees an affordable family weekend filled with endless fun and creativity.

Be entertained into the night with a spectacular live music line-up including The Delta Riggs, Birdz, Andrew Swift, Amber Lawrence and The Stone Apes with fireworks displays each night of the festival at family friendly timeslots of 7.45pm on Friday and Sunday and 6.45pm on Saturday.

The River Festival has become part of our community life and we are ecstatic we can deliver such a full program for our community as well as an event that attracts thousands of people from outside our region and last year provided over $339,000 in overnight visitor expenditure.

Community festivals play a vital role in boosting the region’s economy, attracting visitors, and showcasing the diverse attractions and offerings of the area.

Residents should seize this opportunity to invite friends and family to join in the festivities, allowing them to experience firsthand the unique charm and vibrant spirit of Rockhampton River Festival.

To ensure you don’t miss out on a single moment of the River Festival excitement, be sure to download the free Rockhampton Events mobile app.

With this app, you can explore the full program, create a personalised schedule, and plan your days at the festival effortlessly.
