$20 million in funding for the Keppel Bay Sailing Club

I am glad to say the Keppel Bay Sailing Club, has hit a new milestone with construction of the Conference Centre beginning recently.

The development of the convention centre will have an incredible impact on the Capricorn Coast community.

I am proud to have delivered $20 million in funding for the Keppel Bay Sailing Club and Convention Centre and I am thrilled that construction is beginning.

We all know that job creation is essential, and I am sure the boost to the local economy will be welcomed.

The new state-of-the-art facility will put our region on the national stage and provide great job opportunities for our young people.

General Manager of Keppel Bay Sailing Club, Mal Cochrane has said, over its history, many milestone celebrations and events have been held at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club and that tradition will continue with a versatile facility that can host both small and large functions and can expand to host major events and conventions.

Progress is on track with the Club eying off the 2024 Youth Sail QLD Championships as being one of the first major events following the opening celebrations.

Established in 1957, Keppel Bay Sailing Club has a proud history of sharing their love of sailing with the community.

The development of the Keppel Bay Sailing Club and Conference Centre is an exciting milestone in the club’s rich history and will help better fulfil the needs of the community for many decades to come.

As a not-for-profit organisation, the Keppel Bay Sailing Club exists to serve the community, as well as its members and patrons.

While talking great projects for the region it is wonderful to see it’s all systems go at the Fitzroy Community Hospice site.

I remember meeting with the team a few years ago to hear their dream of creating a hospice centre that is a purpose-built, peaceful, home-like facility.

It will support patients, families, and carers through one of life’s most difficult periods.

Hospice care is a type of health care that focuses on the relief of symptoms and suffering caused by cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

It also attends to their emotional and spiritual needs at the end of life.

Hospice care prioritises comfort and quality of life by reducing pain and suffering.

There are no hospice services north of Hervey Bay to provide regional Queenslanders with access to this type of care.

This is why I lobbied hard and secured $8 million towards this much-needed piece of infrastructure.

The Fitzroy Community Hospice will be a 12-bed facility where families are welcomed and encouraged to stay, with specialist palliative care nurses and staff providing around the clock care.

I want to congratulate the Board of Fitzroy Community Hospice for their dedication and hard work in making this dream a reality for Central Queensland.
