An historical day out

The Capricorn Coast Historical Society had a great day trip visiting several historic sites in Rockhampton last week.

The weather was perfect and at each site the enthusiastic volunteer guides welcomed us with lots of entertaining commentary.

The day started at the Archer Park Railway Museum which is located near to the CQ Military Museum in central Rockhampton.

One of our society members kindly donated a box with medals, a photo and a scroll to the Military Museum.

The final stop was at the council owned Rockhampton Heritage Village set in over 11 hectares of bushland. So much to see, and a handy tram to help transport us, if needed.

How lucky we are to have these places conveniently available, at reasonable costs, with willing volunteers keeping them going?

If you haven’t visited them recently (or ever!) check them out as displays are being added to all the time.

They are always on the lookout for volunteers, so contact them if you think you may be able to help: Archer Park Railway Museum 4922 2774, CQ Military Museum 4921 0648 and Rockhampton Heritage Village 4936 8681.
