Remembering Oscar

I want to pay a special tribute to our darling Oscar.

This article is a tricky one to write and while I may be typing this with teary eyes and trembling fingers, I want so much to

honour a darling soul I was lucky enough to love for 14 years of my life.

On 29 March this year, my family gathered to say our final goodbyes to our sweetest little boy, our Beagle x Cavalier

King Charles, Oscar.

With the help of his vet who cared for him most of his life and with the whole family right by his side, our sweet angel’s wings gently carried him away to a peaceful heavenly place.

In his wake, he left broken hearts and a fractured family unit but our memory banks were brimming with an array of moments with our Oscar.

Some memories would trigger tears and tug at heartstrings; others would give us a giggle and bring us some comfort.

Our 15 year old rescue baby was our whole world, the fifth member of our family with such a story and spirit.

He had a sad start to life and upon being found wandering aimlessly around in the streets, he landed in the pound when he was

only 12 months old.

He was on the precipice of being put to sleep when we adopted him.

We welcomed him into our home and hearts in 2009.

We are so thankful to Capricorn Animal Aid to this day for all their help, their big hearts and tireless efforts when it comes to giving dear darlings a second chance at life in a loving home.

Without CAA, we never would have been blessed with the chance to meet and adopt our beautiful boy.

Our 14 years with Oscar was packed with love, joy and heart warming moments.

It was such a pleasure over the years to see his trust and confidence grow with humans again, to watch as his bond with us blossomed and became unbreakable, to see him glow as he received so much love and got to experience his greatest adventures with his pack.

An added bonus was seeing his cheeky personality come to life.

He was such a perfect match for our family dynamic and our unwavering love for him will live on forever.

If anyone out there is thinking of welcoming a pawfect companion into their family, please consider adopting.

Our life with our bundle of joy-rescue boy had been the most rewarding.

To rewrite their story, gift them with the happy ever after they truly deserve, and shower them in so much love throughout their time, it is hand on heart the most moving experience.

As for our little Oscar, rest easy, sweet boy.

Thank you for the memories, the love, the laughs, the light you brought to our lives.

You rescued us, brought our days a whole new sense of joy and meaning, and changed our world in so many amazing ways.

For that, we’re infinitely grateful, we love you unconditionally and will cherish your memory always.
