The ANZAC Spirit

Each year at the Rocky Sports Club, our much-loved members Col and Gloria Barlow set up their cherished ANZAC display behind a table laden with badges and items to honour the bravery, courage, skill and camaraderie of the Australian and New Zealand soldiers.

Col and Gloria are workhorses within the community and are held in high esteem by all the RSC team and fellow members. Col was a Warrant Officer in the Australian Airforce, serving from 1961 to 1984.

While ANZAC Day is an incredibly special day and a time to remember and reflect for Col, it also marks another very special occasion.

Tuesday, 25 April marks Col’s 91st birthday.

Call in to the Rocky Sports Club to say g’day to Col and Gloria and purchase a badge or two in support of the Return Services League of Australia, Queensland Branch.

And don’t forget to wish Col a very happy 91st Birthday for Tuesday!

MOTHER’S DAY

Make mum’s day this Mother’s Day and treat her to lunch at the Rocky Sports Club.

The community club is rolling out the red carpet for all mums to say thank you for all they do.

Bring Mum along for lunch or dinner on Sunday, 14 May and she dines for free, with a complimentary glass of wine or bubbles.

Club General Manager Jack Hughes is looking forward to seeing all the mums enjoy their special day.

“We wanted to show all our mums how much we appreciate all they do for us, by giving them a break and treating them to a complimentary meal,” Jack explained.

“We also have a great Mother’s Day hamper filled with lots of goodies our mums will love, which will be drawn at lunchtime on Mother’s Day. We can’t wait to see all the families bring their mums along for a bit of spoiling.”

Show mum how much you love her and book your table for lunch or dinner by calling the Rocky Sports Club on 4807 6519.
