Bowled over for St Paddy’s Day

The Mount Morgan Rotary Club hosted the annual Alex Teeney Memorial Bowls St Paddy’s Day event on Sunday, 19 March, at the Welfare Bowls Club.

Twenty-six Rotarians and friends competed for the trophy, and the competition, while not overly serious, was very close. The winning team consisted of Bill Halloran, Ian Creed, and local identity Ann Dwyer.

Rotary Club President Craig Edmonston said everyone who competed said that they had a great time and lots of fun.

The Mount Morgan Rotary Club provided a well-received lunch after the morning’s bowling. Numerous raffle multi-draws sent a lot of participants home happy. Winner of best Irish dressed Man was Grant Farrell and best Irish dressed lady was Shirley Gent.

The money raised from the day will go towards Rotary’s project of eliminating Polio from the face of the earth. The end of Polio is very close but there is still a lot of work and vaccinating children in many countries required, to ensure that there are no breakouts of the deadly virus.

Mr Edmonston thanked all the participants and helpers who made the day a success. He also thanked The Welfare Bowls Club members for their wonderful support in hosting the day and supporting the Rotary Club. We look forward an even bigger and better event next year.
