Looking forward to big year for U3A

U3A Rockhampton Inc held its annual meeting on 7 March at Frenchville Sports Club, celebrating a successful 12 months and embracing the prospect of an exciting 2023.

Officers elected to the executive committee at the meeting included the return of Cheryl Wickes as president, Jane Brazil as secretary, Lenore Cook as treasurer, Joan Cooper as assistant secretary and Bev Meredith as social coordinator and committee member.

“It has been a busy year,“ said president Cheryl Wickes. “Our membership is steadily regaining pre-Covid levels and we have enjoyed many wonderful outings and activities.

“2022 also saw us agree to host the 2023 U3A Network Queensland Conference,’ she continued.

“And the conference took a huge turn when we realised that 2023 will be 50 years since U3A was formed in France.

“Conference chair Henry Cope and his committee have spent the past nine months creating a celebration that will promote U3A and Rockhampton to the world.

“It’s going to be an exciting year for U3A in Central Queensland!“

The next general meeting of U3A Rockhampton and District will be held Tuesday, 4 April, at the Frenchville Sports Club, 105 Clifton St North Rockhampton at 9am for a 9.20am start. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Check out their website: u3arockhampton.org.au or their Facebook page for more information, or phone president Cheryl Wickes on 0428 452 836.

Come along and see what U3A can offer you!
