Recipients of the 2023 Rockhampton Regional Council Australia Day awards, Roslyn McKendry and Bob Newby, were guest speakers at the North Rockhampton Uniting Church morning tea, held on 25 February. Roslyn and Bob spoke of their volunteer work, highlighting the importance of ‘volunteering’ within the wider community.

Roslyn said that the event gave her the opportunity to share her volunteer journey and to honour the integral role of those who give tirelessly of their time, expertise and efforts to volunteer.

Guests were treated to an array of morning tea treats, games, a silent auction and the chance to catch up with friends.

A fundraising stall, with all proceeds benefitting school chaplaincy, was also held.

A stall ran during the morning, and all proceeds went towards Chaplaincy.

The event showcased the valuable work of volunteers in our community and how their efforts sustain, support and enhance the lives of many.
