MEET THE PRINCIPAL: High standards for 152 years

Gracemere State School is the oldest state school in the Rockhampton district, opening in 1871.

Gracemere State School’s reputation for educating children to the very highest standards has been built up over 152 years.

We value strong links to a proud history, whilst evolving into a contemporary school for 21st century learners, providing modern facilities including access to 21st century technology.

The School’s core purpose, “building a healthy and engaged Community”, is built on established traditions and high expectations with strong parent and community engagement.

This is underpinned by our four school values: ‘Always Present, Always Safe, Always Respectful and Always Learning’.

As a professional learning community committed to continual improvement, our long established school motto, “Our Best Always”, is evidenced in the daily learning of the students and the

teaching of the school staff. Everyone is empowered through high expectations to nurture and inspire our students to do their “Best Always”.

Through our vision “United in Success”, staff share a common goal and direction towards developing life-long learners with a continued focus on student success and wellbeing.

Through quality teaching and learning based on the Australian Curriculum, we aim to personalise the learning of every student to support the achievement of their individual learning goals.

Students have access to high quality academic, language, arts, sporting, music and digital technology programs with specialist teachers.

Gracemere State School works closely with local Darumbal Elders and community groups to help our students achieve, both academically and socially.

Our Gracemere Learning and Inclusion Centre (GLInC), focuses on building student wellbeing and collaborates with community organisations to provide our parents with opportunities to learn about and access programs that can assist their families.
