Engine was pride of procession

The Capricorn Coast Historical Society submitted this photo of a restored 1925 Bean Fire Engine, which featured in the 1988 Pineapple Festival Procession.

This fire-fighting unit had been restored by Lex Semple while he was serving with the Rockhampton Fire Brigade.

Lex later served in Yeppoon from 1963 to his retirement in 1988 and is well remembered for driving Santa Claus around the Capricorn Coast, throwing lollies for the children.

The engine is now housed at the Historical Village in Rockhampton.

Calendars featuring photos from the Livingstone Shire area are available from the Capricorn Coast Historical Society and selected newsagents.

If you are looking for calendars specifically featuring photos of the Rockhampton area, please contact the Rockhampton and District Historical Society.
