Q and A with Tom Canfell from 4RO

What is your greatest achievement?

It was always my dream to be a radio announcer, particularly in sports/politics.

There certainly isn’t any “set” pathway on getting into it.

So, it took a lot of years of learning and hard work.

But if you had told me 10 years ago, I’d be a radio announcer with a successful sports podcast as well I would have been pretty stoked with that.

What is your favourite book (or movie)?

Favourite book is Harry Potter, Favourite Movie is Pulp Fiction.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Big Melbourne Storm fan so going to have to be Melbourne.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

Sports broadcaster.

What motivates you in the morning?

A big cup of coffee.

What is your favourite place in the Rockhampton region?

I love the zoo but also walking along Quay St at night is beautiful.

If you could have a superpower what would it be?

See the future.

Which celebrity guests would you invite to a dinner party?

Quentin Tarentino, Chael Sonnen and Dave Grohl.

What makes you laugh the most?

I’m a sucker for TikTok. So any funny video is good. The funniest comedian I’ve seen though is Jimmy Carr.

What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?

Watching sports or movies with friends and family.
