I want to extend a hearty congratulations to Emmaus College in their recent endeavour to deliver a ripper rendition of High School Musical (HSM) on our local stage.

It was a performance that invited me down Memory Lane and made for a super special night; Emmaus being my old high school and HSM was my absolute favourite movie series growing up.

I’m talking family road trips with the soundtracks on repeat, no doubt giving my family one heck of a headache, singing at the top of my lungs with my brother on the HSM singstar and watching the movies until the DVDs were scratched past the point of return from excessive use.

Fond memories came flooding back of the days where High School Musical was my world.

As it came to life on the stage, I felt the joy the songs had brought me when I was younger and the unwavering love for the storyline that hooks audience members across all age groups.

It was a night of nostalgia that had my inner 10-year-old self watching on starry-eyed, captivated by every song, scene and second.

It was wonderful to see such a diverse pool of talent take on this major musical.

With the kaleidoscope of colourful costumes, an absolute slam-dunk stage set, a script laced with light-hearted humour and a cast that showcased a palpable appreciation for the musical, it was a performance Ms. Darbus herself would have been proud of.

What I love most about these productions is that they bring people from all over the community together to celebrate tremendous talent, enjoy a show adored by many and witness new generations of stars in the making.

Congratulations to all involved on-stage and behind the scenes.

Bravo, brava and Go Wildcats!
