Carinity Education Rockhampton has proudly welcomed its student leaders for 2023: Rhyder Bloomfield, Lakoda Drummond (school Captains), Milo McIntosh and Charlee-Kae Ahern (vice captains).
Rhyder has been a student at the school at Glenlee since Grade 7.
“I like the school because it provides opportunities to every single student, and the staff are very supportive to make sure you achieve your goals. There is a more hands-on approach to learning and more opportunities,” Rhyder said.
Now in her fifth year at Carinity Education Rockhampton, Lakoda regards the school as “a family away from home”.
“The staff here always help and never give up on you. They help with your schoolwork and also your wellbeing,” Lakoda said. “My goal as school captain is to ensure that everyone has a voice.”
Carinity Education Rockhampton Principal, Lyn Harland, said the special assistance school has been supporting young people who have previously struggled in the mainstream education system since 2016.
“The ability and freedom to provide unconditional positive regard daily to our young people, families and staff is one of the many reasons I love my job,” Lyn said.
“Another is the kindness and compassion I observe each day. Our young people face their challenges head on with the support of my amazing team.
“Providing education in a caring environment is one of the keys to success, and why our students continue to thrive.”
Demand for its special assistance education model will see Carinity Education Rockhampton open a new junior school campus at Mount Chalmers in Term 2.
