A grader was destroyed by fire at Blackwater's Curragh North coal mine around 6am on Tuesday, 12 December.
A 500-metre exclusion zone was put in place around the burnt-out 16 Motor Grader for 24 hours and an investigation into the cause of the fire launched by Resources Safety and Health Queensland. The fire was extinguished by on-site ERT members.
"A worker was refuelling the grader when they discovered smoke and flames coming from the rear engine," an RSHQ spokesperson said.
Authorities are investigating following a 59-year-old Banya man's death in a roof collapse at Coronado's Mammoth Underground Mine on Friday, 2 January.
