Famed and internationally-recognised comedian and writer, Ben Elton will tread the boards of Rockhampton’s Pilbeam Theatre for the first time next month.
On Sunday April 11, Ben Elton Live will deliver a two-hour spectacle filled with plenty of humour following the Covid-19 outbreak.
While the deadly pandemic would naturally inform some of his material, Elton said it would not take control of his routine.
“I’m learning about our world … I’m a non-reflective person (enjoying) the process of living, I am myself on stage,” he said.
“I look within when I’m performing.”
After spending three months preparing for his return to the stage, the acclaimed entertainer could not forget to include Australian dates to his latest trek after not having performed live down under in 15 years.
Elton looked forward to entering uncharted territory in Central Queensland after having been “bored” of hearing about Covid-19.
“It was truly heartbreaking to see the absence of theatre, music and live entertainment,” he said.
While there were several themes he could visit for his upcoming performances, he didn’t provide any spoiler alerts for what he had planned for his Central Queensland fans.
“All I can do is express myself,” he said.
His upcoming special appearance comes after the legendary comic decided to take a step back from the spotlight to spend more time with his wife and children.
Upon his return to the stage in 2019, his tour across the United Kingdom saw the artist sell-out 75 shows garnering rave reviews.
Elton had first burst onto the comedy scene about 30 years ago, and had since been actively working as an actor, entrepreneur, playwright and author.
He has released 16 novels, six of which have reached number one best-selling status.
You can catch Ben Elton Live from 7.30pm on Sunday, April 11 at the Pilbeam Theatre in Rockhampton.
Front Row VIP tickets cost $175.50, VIP Hot Seat tickets are $155.10 and adults are $71.30.
