Have your say on Livingstone Shire’s Local Laws

As the Mayor of Livingstone Shire, I am reaching out to our community to encourage active participation in an important process that directly impacts our way of life.

Our Local Laws, which govern a wide range of activities across our region, are currently under review, and we need your input.

Since de-amalgamating from Rockhampton Regional Council in 2013, this is the first comprehensive review of our Local Laws.

The proposed changes cover various aspects of community life, from dog off-leash areas and public parking to driving on beaches and temporary accommodation regulations.

We are also introducing two new Local Laws related to vegetation management and accommodation facilities while removing one outdated law.

These changes aim to simplify, make our laws easier to understand, and make them more reflective of current legislation and community expectations.

Our Local Laws must keep pace with the evolving needs of our diverse community.

That’s why your feedback is crucial.

The Queensland Government has already reviewed the proposed changes, and now it’s time for our residents to have their say.

One issue that has sparked considerable debate over the past year is driving on our local beaches.

This review provides an opportunity for residents to share their views on this and other important matters.

I strongly urge you to review the proposed changes and provide your feedback.

Your input will help us ensure that the laws we adopt are contemporary, relevant, and aligned with the needs of our community.

You can review the proposed changes and submit your feedback online through the Get Involved portal on the Council’s website (getinvolved.livingstone.qld.gov.au), or you can visit our Customer Service Centres in Yeppoon or Emu Park.

The consultation period closes at 5pm on Wednesday, 11 September.

I encourage every resident to get involved and make their voice heard.

Together, we can continue to build a community that maintains the unique lifestyle we cherish here in Livingstone Shire.
