Remember the days of Cat Stevens?
The name brings back a thousand memories – dark eyes, a winning voice and songs the whole world sang along to; Moonshadow, Wild World, Peace Train, Where Do the Children Play, Father and Son, Morning Has Broken.
The songs have become bookmarks in our lives, deeply personal, as if they were written especially for us.
At the Pilbeam Theatre’s February Morning Melodies, theatregoers can re-live the voice of a generation, in a celebration of one of the most inspiring and prolific singer songwriters of our time, sung with remarkable authenticity by one of Australia’s most exciting artists, Darren Coggan.
Get on board the Peace Train and ‘Remember the Days of Cat Stevens’ as Darren Coggan traces the path of a man who never stopped wondering about how to make the world a better place.
Coggan, a multi award winning singer in his own right, created Peace Train – the Cat Stevens Story more than ten years ago.
That show received critical and audience acclaim throughout Australia and the UK.
Coggan amazed many with a quality of voice that closely resembled the original.
Rockhampton Regional Council Communities and Heritage Portfolio spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson encouraged people come along to Morning Melodies.
‘This is a great way to kick off the Morning Melodies year at the Pilbeam Theatre,” Cr Wickerson said.
“For many, the songs of Cat Stevens were a soundtrack to our childhood and the similarities of Darren Coggan’s voice to that of Cat Stevens is quite remarkable.
“Morning Melodies is a great way for seniors to connect over a free morning tea supplied by Brumby’s followed by some great entertainment, and Rockhampton Regional Council is very pleased to present regular Morning Melodies concerts at the Pilbeam Theatre,” he said
“Remember the Days of Cat Stevens is a great way to kick off the Morning Melodies year, so we hope to see you there,” he said.
The show starts at 11am, with a free morning tea supplied by Brumby’s Allenstown / Gracemere / Parkhurst from 10am.
Morning Melodies is presented by Rockhampton Regional Council.
