As the calendar pages flutter towards the end of the year, Rockhampton transforms into a wonderland of merriment, offering an array of events, celebrations, and activities to enchant residents and visitors alike.
Whether you’re a local looking to rediscover the magic in your own backyard, or you’re planning a festive visit to this vibrant Queensland gem, you’re in for a treat.
Dive into our comprehensive Explore Christmas guide and discover the plethora of festivities and happenings set to light up the Rockhampton region this holiday season. From sparkling lights to festive markets, and heart-warming carols to letters from Santa, there’s something to make everyone’s holiday wishes come true.
One of our annual Christmas highlights is the CBD Christmas Fair and Lighting of the Christmas Tree, which will be held on Saturday, 2 December at Quay Street and the Riverside Precinct.
This year you can expect the usual market stalls, food vendors, live music and entertainment, plus an outdoor cinema screening everyone’s favourite Christmas movie, “Elf.”
There will be a great program of free activities for the kids including face painting, a bauble decorating workshop and a ‘Letter to Santa’ writing station.
At 7:45pm, you can watch in awe as the spectacular lights of the CBD Christmas Tree are turned on to sparkle right through until 14 January 2024.
This year your youngsters will once again be able to post their letters to Santa, with a very special letterbox located outside Customs House in Quay Street from 1 November, sending letters express to the North Pole.
If they post their wish to Santa by Tuesday, 5 December, they just may very well get a reply from him before Christmas!
In addition to this, Advance Rockhampton are partnering with Triple M this year to bring you the best Christmas Lights displays in our region.
Soon you will be able to access the self-guided tour on the Explore Rockhampton app, which you can download for free from your Apple or Google app store.
The cherry on top this year, we have one final Christmas activation to reveal next week which will be a memorable experience for the whole family.
